Next Economy graduation ceremony

Next Economy graduation ceremony

The first batch of the Next Economy program youth graduated with employability and core life skills from the youth program that was rolled out in 2017. The Next Economy program focuses on supporting young people in growing their employment and entrepreneurship skills. The program was began in partnership with SOS Children's Villages Kenya, 1 %Club Netherlands and Nailab and is geared towards creating sustainable income generating activities through direct job creation and entrepreneurship activities for young people.

The program is anchored on SDGs goal 8 that seeks to contribute to creation and growth of decent work and economic development through encouragement of entrepreneurship and enhancement of employability skills in a bid to reduce poverty and achieving full productive employment and work opportunities for women and men by 2030. It has two pillars focusing on basic life skills training and transfer of useful employability skills to increase young people's chances of employment.

SOS Family Strengthening program head Annemarie Ojunga addresses the graduates.
